An Excerpt from Broken Bond

I felt a draw on me, a pull I’d never felt before.
It was coming from my familiar bond.
I imagined a shield lifting up, the kind I had felt when Dominic had cut me off in the mundane realm. As I focused on the idea of a wall between us, I felt the pull stop. I’d blocked it.
Fuck him.
Whatever he needed access to my magic for, he could just shove it up-
Dominic whirled, grabbed me by the front of my leather vest, and lifted me up in the air until my face was a few inches from his. My world narrowed to the intensity of his face so close to mine. I could see the slight point of his canines, the sharpness of his ears as they poked through his moonlit violet hair. His hands had turned from graceful fingers to sharp claws that punctured my vest as he held me there, dangling in the air.
I focused on the glare in his purple eyes.
“Give it to me!” he snarled. “I’m drained!”
The pressure from my bond turned from a pull to a sharp yank.
“You asshole,” I snarled back, kicking my legs out to connect with his gut.
He slammed me against the blue wall, using his hips to pin me there as his face dove in so close to mine, his breath hot against my lips. I leaned forward, dodging his lips, and bit him on the ear hard.
He let out a hiss and set me down.
“Please,” he repeated, holding my gaze with his own as he pleaded with me. His voice was now almost a groan. “I need you.”
